The youth wing of the Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has condemned what it called the “gross violation” of the state’s reservation policy in regard to an appointment in the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
In a press release today, KHNAM youth wing President Thomas Passah said that the party is opposed to the appointment of one Surajit Bordoloi as a consultant to the SDMA, for which he receives a salary of Rs 45,000.
KHNAM has opposed his appointment since 2018 when it filed a Right to Information (RTI) request. Following the request, Bordoloi’s appointment was terminated, Passah said today, but he has since been reinstated.
KHNAM’s point is that Bordoloi’s seat should be reserved for indigenous tribals of Meghalaya
“He was appointed in October 2013 and, after an appeal by us, he was terminated. Surprisingly, it is learned that he has been reappointed in the last few days, which amounts to nepotism and violation of the law of the land,” Passah said.
