The Khun Hynñiewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) has expressed disappointment that its demand for personal interview has been partially met.
KHNAM has asked the State to do away with personal interviews in group B, C, and D government posts in line with the Central Government and 23 other states in the country.
However, the government in its Cabinet today approved to discontinue only personal interviews to Group D posts.
KHNAM leader Thomas Passah said it is disappointed by the decision as the party had submitted several memorandums advocating for the abolition of personal interviews across all three groups.
He highlighted that the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) had initiated reforms to achieve clean and transparent recruitment in government jobs back in 2016. Since then, 23 states and 8 union territories have joined these reforms, leaving Meghalaya as one of the few states still persisting to hold on to conducting personal interviews.
Passah stated that the state government has not fully adhered to the guidelines issued by the DoPT, which are not restricted to Group D posts.
He said KHNAM would soon submit a letter to the government and the Ministry of Personnel to push for complete transparency in job recruitment within the state.
