An oxygen plant for East Jaintia Hills will be up and running by June 5, cabinet minister and Khliehriat MLA Kyrmen Shylla said today.
This was one of the issues Shylla discussed with the Director of Health Services, Dr Aman Warr in a meeting to review the Covid-19 situation in the district.
“We discussed the infrastructure, shortage of manpower and health facilities in the district, including oxygen supplies, besides upgradation of the 100-bed hospital to a fully-fledged Civil Hospital,” Shylla said.
The minister said that Dr Warr had assured him that all efforts have been made to revamp the hospital, which is where the oxygen plant will be installed. Land to enable an expansion and become a proper Civil Hospital will be provided in consultation with the Deputy Commissioner.
Shylla also said that the hospital received an ambulance recently and efforts are on to procure more.
