East Jaiñtia Hills district today got its first ultra sound machine, which was arranged by the administration for the Khliehriat Civil Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Baranwal said that the medical gadget was procured through the corporate social responsibility initiative of the North East Transmission Company Limited.
The presence of USG machine will help in providing better medical services and the residents of the district will not have to go to different districts for simple tests, he said.
NETC representative, NR Singh, SDO Sadar A. Singh, ADC health J. Shylla and DMHO Dr. D. Shylla were present at the function.
It may be mentioned that the 100-bed hospital, which was upgraded from a community health centre was inaugurated in February last year. People and pressure groups since then have complained about the lack of equipment and lamented that the hospital does not even have a simple x-ray machine.
