The Congress has replaced suspended Nongstoiñ MLA, Gabriel Wahlang with Eric Kharsyntiew as the interim president of the West Khasi Hills district committee.
This comes a day after the Congress party suspended three of its MLAs, including Wahlang, for six years for “anti party activities”.
Following a special meeting held in Nongstoiñ today, district committee president Bormanding Nonglang said the appointment of Kharsyntiew was according to the directives from the party high command.
The meeting also discussed strategies to strengthen the party in the Nongstoiñ, Mawshynrut, and Rambrai Jyrngam blocks
The Congress also welcomed the return of former Rambrai-Jyrngam MDC JTS Thongni.
Meanwhile, Forteenson Lyngkhoi was appointed as the general secretary of the district committee with the responsibility of overseeing the Mawshynrut Block Congress Committee.
