Khadsawphra College in Eastern West Khasi Hills yesterday held its Graduation Day for students of the first and second batches who passed their BA and B Com honours degrees.
Altogether, 110 students passed out in the final semester NEHU examinations of 2020 and 2021. Of these, 45 were placed in the first division and the rest in the second division.
NEHU pro vice chancellor Prof. Henry Lamin was the chief guest at the Graduation Day.
In his speech, Prof. Lamin said that lauded the college for its achievements and expressed hope that the college would be able to impart education to students as per the New Education Policy 2020 since it already has the required facilities. He also stressed on the need for skill development for students.
Khatsawphra College principal Boldness Lyngdoh Nongum in his speech said that the college was established in 2017 and that its students were able to sit for two final examinations in BA and B Com with 100 per cent pass percentage.
“Most of the students who passed out from our college are now pursuing their master degrees in different universities. Some are pursuing B Ed and D El Ed while others are studying BD in various theological colleges,” Nongum said.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Eastern West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Willfred Nongsiej, West Khasi Hills District School Education Officer L Syiemlieh, Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw Phrestar Manik Syiem and passed out student Caledonian Kurbah.
The Kitdor Memorial Award was also presented to the toppers of the college. Songs and traditional dances by students were the other highlights of the programme.
