A special campaign titled ‘Khadi Mahotsav’ with the tag line “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion” is being celebrated from this year onwards across the country during October 2 to 31.
The objective of the Khadi Mahotsav is to promote Khadi and Village Industries, Handloom and Handicraft products, ODOP products and products of various traditional and cottage industries manufactured locally and to further promote the idea of “Vocal for Local” campaign and ‘AtmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ envisioned by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
On this occasion, the state office of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Shillong, conducted various programmes like seminar, Khadi Yatra, Khadi Charcha and Khadi pledge at Gandhi Buniyadi Secondary School, Pynthorumkhrah, on October 18 wherein the principal along with the faculty members participated.
During the seminar, Mange Ram, KVIC State Director, presented the various schemes of the KVIC and also interacted with the students in the context of Khadi Charcha. In the Charcha, various queries are raised by the participants and the faculty members.
Ninety students and faculty members of the school participated in the Khadi Yatra.
A three-day mini exhibition was also organised by the KVIC from October 21 to 23 at Oakland Bivar Road Durga Puja Committee with six stalls displaying various products.
