Shillong, Feb 23: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has received 2,457 proposals from MDCs seeking funds under the 15th Finance Commission grants allocated by the central government.
The proposals were submitted for the first installment of 2022-2023 to implement development works across KHADC constituencies.
Executive Member in charge of Land and Development, Powell Sohkhlet, disclosed this while speaking to reporters today.
He stated that 1,425 proposals fall under the Tied Scheme, amounting to Rs 34 crore, while 1,022 proposals were submitted under the Untied Scheme with a total allocation of Rs 22.67 crore.
Sohkhlet further informed that due to strict guidelines laid down by the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, all payments must be processed online through the ministry’s designated portal, known as e-GramSwaraj. The KHADC is expected to scrutinise and process the proposals in accordance with the prescribed norms to ensure timely execution of development projects.
Meanwhile, Sohkhlet also said that he did not get to clarify on the delay of the schemes in the just-concluded budget session of the KHADC because on the second day of the session, the MDC who was supposed to ask questions on the development schemes did not attend. On the last day business was interrupted due to the sudden demise of Shillong MP Ricky AJ Syngkon.
