The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has accused Assam of encroachment in Khanapara.
Chief executive member of the district council Titosstar Well Chyne told reporters on Tuesday that there is an ongoing construction of building by Assam which is illegal.
“There’s an illegal ongoing construction of a three-storey building which is a transit camp under the Assam Police at Khanapara falling under Hima Mylliem and the Syiem of Raid Marwet,” Chyne said.
He said that the executive committee of the district council has summoned the Syiem of Raid Marwet and Syiem Hima Mylliem to to shed light on the matter.
Chyne also said that the district council has taken note of the illegal construction of a bridge at Balakhwa.
“We have earlier directed the acting Syiem of Hima Nongspung to inspect but to date, we are yet to get the report from him and so we will have to summon him on this matter,” he said.
