Shillong, Mar 19: The India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) Meteorological Centre Shillong has begun an official WhatsApp channel for weather updates and early warnings in Meghalaya.
This initiative aims to provide timely, accurate and user-friendly weather information directly to the public.
With the increasing need for real-time weather updates, especially during the pre-monsoon and monsoon season, and extreme weather events, the WhatsApp channel will serve as a quick and reliable weather platform for citizens, government agencies and stakeholders, the IMD said in a release today.
It will provide three-hourly weather updates in English and Khasi, daily observations, weekly forecasts, warnings, Agromet bulletins and information related to IMD Shillong. All residents of Meghalaya are encouraged to join and follow the channel to stay informed about the latest weather updates.
