The Jaiñtia Students’ Movement (JSM) has demanded legal action against the founder president of All Cachar Karimganj Hailakandi Students Association, Pradip Duta Roy for threatening the Khasis living in Barak Valley.
A complaint was lodged by the student’s body at the Khliehriat Police Station against Roy on Saturday for his recent statement published in a section of the media that Khasi people living in Barak Valley will have to “face serious trouble” by launching a massive movement.
“His (Roy) statement is a direct threat and it is a fact that the Khasi people are minority in comparison to the other communities in Barak Valley,” JSM president LS Rymbai said.
The JSM leaders also met the district Superintendent of Police and submitted a copy of the complaint to him. They also urged the State government to ensure the safety and security of people living in those areas.
