The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has instituted an award called the Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards 2024 for meritorious acts in saving the life of a person in incidents such as drowning, accidents, fire incidents, electrocution, landslides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines, etc.
The awards are given in three categories: Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak.
Interested persons/members of the armed forces, police and of recognised fire services, etc are also eligible for these awards provided the lifesaving is performed by them. Nominations can be sent to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills on or before June 3, 2024. Detailed information can be found on eastkhasihills.gov.in.
