The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has instituted an award called the Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards 2023 for meritorious acts in saving the life of a person in incidents such as drowning, accidents, fire incidents, electrocution, landslides, animal attack and rescue operation in mines, etc.
The awards are given in three categories: Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, Uttam Jeevan Raksha Padak and Jeevan Raksha Padak.
Interested persons/members of the armed forces, police and of recognised fire services, etc are also eligible for these awards provided the lifesaving is performed by them. The recommendations for the Jeevan Raksha Padak Series of Awards 2023 can be sent through the password protected National Award Portal of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (www.awards.gov.in) in online mode only by September 30, 2023.
