A new political party, Meghalaya Janata Dal (United) JD (U) held its first meeting at Williamnagar tourist lodge on July 23, where hundreds of leaders from across the districts of Garo Hills have joined in it.
The meeting was presided over by the party State President Robinus T Sangma, also candidate for upcoming Meghalaya Legislative Assembly election 2023, who welcomed the Meghalaya State’s Coordinator, executive member of JD (U) North-eastern States and State president of Arunachal Pradesh Ruhi Tagung as the chief guest in the meeting.
Tagung spoke about how the party was founded by a Christian Leader Late George Matthew Fernández and Sharad Yadav, Nitish Kumar, the present Chief Minister of Bihar on October 30, 2003 in Bihar.
“I really love to see your brotherhood relation with Christian, Hindu, Muslim and with different sections of group of people. If you love a Christian and George Fernández, Secularism and others we must practice it here in Meghalaya too,” he said.
Stating that it is a good sign for the party wherein hundreds of people are joining the Meghalaya JD (U), Tagung said the people will taste real freedom in enhancing traditional rights including personal liberty in abiding the ideologies of “Socialism, Secularism and integral Humanism “.
