Ambassador of Japan to India, Satoshi Suzuki today said that Japan will continue to provide assistance and work together with India to enhance the health care sector, which is their common agenda.
Suzuki who visited the State today to inspect the oxygen generation plant installed in Nongpoh Civil Hospital said, “The plant is a token of good will from people of Japan as friendship during the difficult time of the pandemic of COVID-19 which has created a huge impact on the country and the state of Meghalaya.”
He expressed his happiness to visit the hospital and the successful functioning of the oxygen generation and hoped that the plant will help many people of Meghalaya and other areas to overcome any diseases.
It may be mentioned that the oxygen generation plant in Nongpoh and other hospitals in the State was sponsored by the Government of Japan through the United National Development Programme in collaboration with the Government of India and Meghalaya.
The plant can generate up to 150 LMP which can cater to the urgent need of those people who would need emergency oxygen in the hospital.
Health Minister, James Sangma, Director DHS (MI) Dr Aman Warr accompanied the Ambassador.
Sangma said that the State is fortunate to have friends like Japan amid the Covid-19 pandemic giving Meghalaya the strength to face and prepare any eventuality.
