Power Minister, James Sangma has suggested officials at the Dadenggre civil sub-division to follow the Bangladesh model of setting up permanent relief camps to aid people during calamities.
Sangma was at a meeting to discuss planning for coordinated action to mitigate the damage and loss from imminent monsoonal deluge and Covid-19 management at Dadenggre yesterday.
He spoke about mitigation during times of calamities and also suggested the SDO (C) to conduct mock exercises in order to familiarize the incident response team with the rescue and relief operations in the sub-division.
Sangma also dwelt on Covid-19 management and said that vaccination is the only way which will pave the way for a normal life and urged citizens to get vaccinated. He also asked the officers to encourage and motivate the people to come forward for vaccination and said, “We need to remove superstition surrounding Covid-19 vaccination in the State”.
Responding to the demand and grievances of the Medical Department in Dadenggre and Tikrikilla PHCs in terms of ambulances and other infrastructures, the minister assured to take up the issue with the government.
At the meeting, Sub-Divisional Officer Jagdish Chelani highlighted the purpose of the meeting and the composition of Incident Response Team of the sub-division, requirements for rescue and relief, etc. He also apprised the minister of the need to upgrade Dadenggre and Tikrikilla Primary Health Centers to Community Health Centers.
He also asked the police to mark the vaccinated shops with green and the non-vaccinated ones with a red mark.
The BDOs of Dadenggre, Selsella, Demdema and the SDO (C) of Raksamgre Sub-Division also highlighted the needs of their respective areas.
