The Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) as a mark of protest against Assam’s encroachment at Iongkhuli, Ri-Bhoi, hung banners today proclaiming the village to be ‘Hynniewtrep Territory’.
HITO also lambasted the state government for, it said, being more concerned by the cabinet reshuffle than the invasion of Meghalaya.
HITO president Donbok Dkhar also said, in a release, that there is an urgent need to separate Meghalaya’s IAS and IPS cadre from that of Assam in order to cope with all the unsettled and unresolved issues.
