The State government today said that the investigation pertaining to several of the FIRs filed against suspended MPS officer Gabriel Iangrai is continuing.
The government said this during a hearing in the division bench of Meghalaya High Court of a PIL filed by Riewad Vicharwant Warjri on the matter.
“It is hoped that something fruitful will come out of the same. The concerned person is still in judicial custody. In such view of the matter, disciplinary proceedings cannot be immediately continued, though they have been initiated,” the court said.
The High Court also listed the matter for hearing on May 4 so that the State government can file a report on the progress in the investigation against the tainted police officer.
