The 33rd District Level Industrial Exhibition took off today at the Ladthadlaboh indoor sports hall in Jowai.
The two-day exhibition will see around 26 stalls being put up by government departments like sericulture, handloom, AH & Veterinary, Meghalaya Basin Development Authority, Social Welfare, SHGs and others from the district.
Organised by the Office of the General Manager District Commerce & Industries Centre, Jowai Chairman MCCL and local MLA, Wailadmiki Shylla inaugurated the exhibition.
Speaking at the inaugural function Shylla lauded the department for organising the exhibition which will create a platform and boost the spirit of local artisans, craftsmen, entrepreneurs to further enhance their productivity.
He also encouraged entrepreneurs and youth to take advantage of the schemes available at the department.
District Manager P. Toi in his keynote address said the exhibition is part of celebrating Meghalaya’s 50th years of Statehood. He highlighted the various schemes and programmes of the Department avails that include the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) a centrally sponsored Scheme, the Homestay scheme.
Functional Manager S E Kharpran, C. Sutnga and Assistant Director of Cottage FG Syngkon were also present at the function.
