The 11th edition of Indo-Bangladesh joint military exercise, ‘SAMPRITI’ concluded today in Umroi.
The exercise aims to enhance the defence cooperation between India and Bangladesh, fostering deeper bilateral relations, cultural understanding and mutual benefits from shared experiences. It also aims to achieve inter-operability and to acquaint each other with employment of joint task force in Sub Conventional operations under Chapter-VII of UN Mandate (UNPKO).
Both the armies were able to achieve the earmarked aim, am official release said.
SAMPRITI was conducted in two phases that included command post, validation, field training exercises including battle inoculation. Both the contingents jointly took part in the validation exercise which included cordon and search operations, room interventions along with air efforts. The exercise also included display and active use of new generation weapon and equipment by both armies.
Around 340 personnel from both sides participated in the exercise. The Bangladeshi contingent comprises 170 personnel of 52 Infantry Brigade and 170 soldiers of 15th Battalion Rajput Regiment of 66 Mountain Brigade.
.A closing ceremony was also organised to felicitate outstanding soldiers who performed exceedingly well during the exercise. Both the armies shared valuable combat experiences and best practices of each other and also participated in a friendly Volleyball match and a camp fire on the final day to increase the bonhomie among troops.
“The successful culmination of the joint training was a significant milestone in ensuring cordial relations between the two countries. Besides promoting understanding and inter-operability between the two armies, it further helped in cementing ties between both the nations,” the statement said.
SAMPRITI is alternatingly organised by both countries, signifies strong bilateral defence cooperation initiatives ever since its inception in Jorhat, Assam in 2009.
