The Department of Health & Family Welfare, East Khasi Hills will conduct the second round of Intensified Mission Indradhanush 4.0 in the district from March 7-14 with an objective to ensure full immunization and complete immunization of children and pregnant women.
As the Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted essential immunization services due to multiple reasons, the possibility of un/partially vaccinated children being exposed to the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases is very high, a statement from the department said.
As the poorly vaccinated cohort increase in an area/pocket, there is a high risk of disease outbreaks. Thus, to catch up on gaps that might have emerged due to the pandemic, immunization has been planned to reach out to unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children and pregnant women, it added.
Parents are urged to bring their children below two years of age who are due for immunization to the session sites in their respective locality for vaccination. Headmen, NGOs, church leaders etc are also urged to join hands with the department for the success of the programme to ensure that all children are fully immunized.
