The Indian Medical Association, Meghalaya chapter has condoled the demise of senior cardiologist and former director of NEIGRIHMS, Dr AK Barooah.
Considered a pioneer of cardiology, Dr Barooah was the first full time medical director of the institute and was instrumental in making it a premier institute with his able leadership vision, IMA President Dr C. Daniala said.
Dr Barooah did his MRCP in UK with specialisation in cardiology. He was an alumnus of Assam Medical College Dibrugarh and founded the department of cardiology in Gauhati Medical College.
