Shillong, Nov 14: IIM Shillong hosted a conclave, ‘The Media Dialogue – Conversations that Connect and Inspire’, bringing together around 18 national journalists, senior editors, and media leaders from across the country.
Three panel discussions were held on the media’s role in Viksit Bharat 2047, empowering communities through responsible and inclusive reporting and North East in India’s Development Story: Amplifying Regional Voices.
Panellists reflected on how responsible storytelling, credible data, and fact-based journalism can enrich India’s development narrative.
Speakers in the second panel highlighted the importance of community-focused journalism rooted in authenticity, field reporting, and equitable representation. The panel emphasized that inclusive media practices can bridge information gaps, bring local voices to the forefront, and strengthen national integration — essential pillars for India’s holistic growth.
The third panel explored how Northeast India can play a central role in the country’s development narrative through strengthened regional representation and data-driven storytelling. Panellists highlighted the importance of youth engagement, cultural visibility, and sustained reportage to mainstream the Northeast’s aspirations and contributions.
