Shillong, Sep 30: The Department of Tourism and Travel Management of ICFAI University Meghalaya celebrated World Tourism Day with a special program at Mawlyndep Village, Ri-Bhoi District in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
The celebration was attended by the students of the university and the residents, in the presence of the Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Alicia Gatphoh, Rangbah Shnong, J. Kharbuki and Jason Mawlong, who was the chief guest.
Special speeches and explanations on tourism were delivered by Ian A. Lyngdoh, who is prominent in the field of tourism, and by the President of West Jaintia Hills District Adventure Sport and Mountaineering Club, Sambor Surong.
The program was enriched by dances and songs composed by the students of the university and also by a special song by Judy H Syiemiong from the village.
After the programme, a cleanliness drive was held as part of the celebration of Swaachta Hi Seva and a tree planting ceremony was held to commemorate the NSS Foundation Day by the students of the university.
