Marcos Rudwere Genar Silva scored a brace on his return to the starting line-up of Shillong Lajong FC in a 4-0 victory against Sreenidi Deccan FC in the 14th round of the I-League at the SSA Stadium at First Ground, Polo, here this evening.
Marcos scored once in each half, with a 41st minute penalty followed by a 72nd minute goal in open play. Kenstar Kharshong (88′) and Renan Paulino de Souza (90’+3) made sure of the result by scoring the home side’s third and fourth goals at the end of the contest.
Lajong coach Jose Carlos Rodriguez Hevia made a solitary change to the starting line-up from the win against Namdhari FC last week, bringing in Marcos for fellow Brazilian Douglas Tardin up front.
The win moved SLFC to fifth place in the standings after 14 rounds with 22 points. Sreenidi are ninth with 16 points.
Lajong will now be on the road for six matches in a row, starting with eighth-placed Dempo SC on February 19 in Goa.
