The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has written to the Vice-Chancellor of North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) to demand that more professors and assistant professors be drawn from the local Khasi-Jaintia community.
The HYC said that it has learnt that the process of recruitment is at an advanced stage and that, as there are a “significant number” of highly-qualified teachers from the local tribal community, it urges NEHU to give preference or priority to the Khasi-Jaintia community first.
