The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC) has expressed concern over the delay in results for the post of assistant engineer in the C&RD department, the written examination which was conducted by the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC).
The HYC said that the written test for filling up of 35 posts was held on March 18, 2023. “More than five months have passed since the written examination but till date the results have not been declared by the commission,” the HYC said.
The advertisement to the post was issued on December 14, 2020 with written examination held in Shillong and Tura. The HYC said the examination was conducted using OMR sheets.
“Using OMR sheets in different examinations provide for a faster processing and results preparation with optimum efficiency and minimum error. But the instant peculiar case of delay in declaration of results by the commission raises serious doubts about the transparency in the whole process of recruitment as well as has affected the applicants both mentally and economically,” the HYC said, adding, “Prolonged delay will also lead to major problem of over-aging of majority of these applicants in the future.”
The organisation has also submitted a memorandum to the MPSC chairman on the matter and warned of agitation and protest against the commission if the process of recruitment is not completed.
