The Hynñiewtrep Youths’ Council (HYC), War Jaiñtia Circle has raised concerns over the dilapidated condition of the Amlarem-Dawki road on NH-40E and blamed coal laden trucks for its condition.
“Coal-laden trucks that belong to the high level (name use for those who are either close to politicians or relatives of politicians in illegal coal trading) are plying the road with impunity and they are responsible for the deteriorating condition of the road, that has inconvenienced the common man who have to attend to their daily chores,” circle president Yoodahunki Shylla said in a statement.
Urging authorities to put a check on the matter the HYC also said that officials of the Amlarem Civil sub division should take matters of overloading seriously to prevent further damage of the road.
Meanwhile, the HYC and the War Jaiñtia Youth Organisation, Shillong unit met officials of Jio and Airtel companies to complain about intermittent network connectivity in War Jaiñtia area due.
Leaders of the organisation said that whenever electricity goes off, mobile network connectivity gets disconnected. They pointed out that good network connectivity has become essential and the companies have to fix and ensure perfect service within a week.
