The Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Jatap and Shella Area units detained a Bangladeshi national, who illegally entered India through Patharghat and Kalatek, adjacent to the Indo-Bangla border, early this morning around 4 am.
According to the HYC, the individual identified as Muhammad Hussain confessed to facilitating the illegal entry of others, including women, into India, and revealed that he was paid Rs 1000 per person.
He also named two Indian nationals, Bono Biswas and Subash Baidya as accomplices in facilitating the illegal trade of materials.
The Bangladeshi was handed over to Shella Police Station.
The HYC has demanded police to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter and to prioritize the case and apprehend all those involved, including those who have entered India illegally.
