Shillong, Oct 17: Three final-year students of St Anthony’s College have created a line of gut-friendly products under the brand ProBites, which was launched today an an event at the college’s Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Incubation (SACCEII).
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma was the chief guest and Saloni Verma, Executive Director of the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA), was the guest of honour.
The day’s highlight was the pilot launch of ProBites, a student-led brand offering healthy, probiotic-based snacks. Developed under SACCEII’s incubation and mentorship, ProBites is an example of how classroom learning can transform into entrepreneurial action. The brand introduces a line of gut-friendly products including probiotic yoghurt, curd and banana chips, blending taste with health and scientific insight.
Founded by Bynraplang Nongphud, Sachen M Sangma and Shanborlang Sun, final-year Biochemistry students of the Class of 2025, ProBites is the result of expert mentorship, practical workshops and hands-on business development guidance from SACCEII.
The event also featured the felicitation of future founders, recognising student innovators and entrepreneurs from SACCEII’s Business Incubation and Certificate Programme in Practical Entrepreneurship. The honourees were celebrated for their creativity, determination and leadership in building early-stage ventures aligned with Meghalaya’s growing startup ecosystem.
Adding vibrancy to the occasion was the Student Venture Exhibition, where participants showcased their innovative products and prototypes. From eco-friendly lifestyle brands and digital solutions to artisanal crafts and culinary ideas, the exhibition reflected the diversity and creativity of Anthonian entrepreneurs. The platform also offered opportunities for dialogue, feedback and potential collaborations between students, visitors and industry guests.
