Redrawing constituency boundaries in the autonomous district council just before an election could be questionable in the eyes of the public, advocate Erwin K Sutnga has said.
The term of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has been extended in order for the delimitation process to be completed.
Sutnga stated that the delimitation of constituencies must comply with the law and therefore cannot be questioned. However, he emphasised the importance of delimitation, particularly in MDC constituencies such as Mawlai and Nongstoiñ.
Sutnga expressed his hope that the delimitation process would be conducted impartially, taking into account the convenience of all voters and MDCs.
