The Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) has strongly opposed the opening of a wine store at Lailad-Itshyrwat.
B Dkhar, president of the HNYF’s East Khasi Hills unit, said that the opening of the wine store at this particular place will be a great disgrace as it is on the route to NEIGRIHMS hospital and New Shillong. It will also negatively affect the people of nearby Umpling and Mawpat, the pressure group, which has filed a complaint with the Deputy Commissioner in the matter, claimed.
Meanwhile, on the issue of drug abuse, the HNYF said that politicians should do more to tackle the problem and not only confine themselves to talking about the topic ahead of elections.
