The banned HNLC has said that instead of addressing the issue of drugs, both the police and the State government are wasting their resources by framing and arresting youth.
“The increasing drug presence in our community seems to be part of a nefarious government scheme. Drugs are detrimental to both individuals and society, as they lead to the destruction of our community. It appears that the government prefers to throw money at problems rather than solve them. Our community is left jumping from one fire to another,” HNLC general secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw said in a statement issued today.
“To grasp any issue in India, it is essential to examine who benefits from the problem, not just those who suffer from it. A recent raid by the HYC, where a youth admitted to using drugs obtained through a police SWAT team, highlights the systemic nature of drug trafficking. It resembles illicit coal transportation operations involving high-ranking government officials, and the Chief Minister and Home Minister are drug dealers and kingpins,” Nongtraw added.
