Ri-Bhoi district police today said that the banned HNLC is brainwashing innocent youth by unleashing vicious propaganda with an objective to keep its extortion industry running.
In a statement issued today, Ri-Bhoi Superintendent of Police Jagpal Singh Dhanoa said that this came to light after interrogation of two persons detained by the police today in connection with the recent recovery of IED in Ri-Bhoi.
“Two more persons have been detained by Ri-Bhoi police and during their interrogation of and of several others, it has come to light that proscribed HNLC is indulging in brain washing of innocent youth by unleashing vicious propaganda with an objective to keep their extortion industry running,” Dhanoa said.
Dhanoa also said that all nefarious activities of HNLC are being conducted through social media and VOIP platforms. He advised people that if they get any contact or call from the HNLC they should immediately inform the police and block the profile or phone number making contact.
“Police are also investigating if any financial contributions were/are made to the banned outfit. Any person having association of any kind will be questioned and legal liability will be fixed under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act,” he said.
Dhanoa also informed that one more case has also been registered by the Ri-Bhoi district police regarding hoisting of HNLC flag on the National Highway in Ri-Bhoi district in August 2023.
