The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) has filed an FIR against the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills, district Superintendent of Police and Deputy Secretary to the government over the BJP party meeting in Laban on July 31.
The complaint also calls for legal action against the organisers of the meeting.
HITO has claimed that there were more people present than the 20-person limit at the meeting and has registered a complaint with Laban police that the DC and SP have not taken action to punish this alleged breach of Covid-19 protocols. It also held the Deputy Secretary, P Jyrwa, to blame for giving permission for the party to hold the meeting “without authority of law”.
