Peeved over rampant earth cutting that is proving a real hurdle for pedestrians and vehicles to negotiate, the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) lodged a complaint today with the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi over the activity at Narbong in Byrnihat.
Speaking to reporters, Kapil Kurbah of HITO’s Byrnihat unit said that the earthworks carried by the company of Utam Jhunjhunwala had created hardship to the locals as the flow of soil and gravel is a great disturbance and inconvenience to the movement of vehicles.
The pressure group had approached Jhunjhunwala for information but was not satisfied with his response. Therefore, HITO has approached the DC, asking for a direction to Jhunjhunwala to clear the road.
