The Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) in a letter to KHADC Chief Executive Member Pyniaid Sing Syiem today demanded cancellation of trade licenses issued “illegally” in Them Rynjah here.
The HITO also said that no-objection certificates (NOCs) for trade licenses were being issued illegally by the R&R Colony Welfare Society to traders in Them Rynjah which is under Rynjah Dorbar Shnong within the territory of Mylliem Syiemship
“We also find that the action of issuing NOCs by this R&R Welfare Society is totally illegal and violates the existing Mylliem Act 2007 and Rules 2015 passed by the KHADC,” the HITO said.
Further, the organisation expressed dismay over the resolution signed by the then KHADC Executive Member (Trade) Sanbor Shullai and A L Hek regarding the Them Rynjah.
According to the HITO, the resolution was against the traditional customary practice as this area is very much under Rynjah Dorbar Shnong and within the territory of Mylliem Syiemship.
Demanding for an inquiry into any possible lapses on the part of Rynjah Dorbar Shnong in connection with the issuing of trade licenses, the HITO also called for immediate amendment of the Mylliem Syiemship Act and Rules “so as to ensure that the functions, role and responsibility of the Syiem and Dorbar, the Rangbah Shnong and Dorbar are defined in a transparent manner so that other communities inhabiting within the Mylliem Syiemship territory are aware of these Acts and Rules”.
