The historic plot of Manipur Rajbari in Shillong has been allotted to the government of Manipur by Meghalaya.
Manipur chief minister Biren Singh on Friday through his social media post said that the plot belonged to the Maharaja of Manipur, Bodhachandra who stayed at the time of signing the Manipur Merger Agreement to Dominion of India on 21st September 1949.
“Sadly the plot no longer belonged to the State of Manipur. However, the plot measuring 1.93 acres at Redlands, Laitumkhrah, has now been allotted to the Government of Manipur after series of negotiations on payment of premium of Rs 91, 04,784. The plot finally belongs to Manipur after decades of struggle to take possession of it,” he said.
He further said that his government has decided to build a Manipur Bhavan on this plot.
