Shillong, Oct 1: Hindi Fortnight at the National Statistics Office (Field Operations Division), Regional Office, Shillong concluded on September 29.
During these two weeks the importance of Hindi language for official work was being highlighted and several programmes were organised namely Hindi essay competition, Hindi dictation, Hindi typing, Noting and Drafting, etc. In order to enable the officers and staff to work in Hindi for official purposes.
The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Director Orenthung Patton. He highlighted that the National Statistics Office is actively engaged in collecting data that significantly contributes to the formulation of citizen-centric policies by both Central and State governments.
A quiz competition was also organised on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the National Informatics Centre, Meghalaya also organised a variety of competitions – Poetry, Dictation, Passage reading and Elocution.
The concluding session was attended by Ajay Madhukar Joshi Deputy Director General & HoG (Rajabhasha) from NIC HQ New Delhi, Prof. Partha Sarathy Pandey, Regional Director, Central Hindi Institute, Shillong and Santhosh VT, State Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre, Meghalaya.
The celebration at NIC emphasised on the consistent efforts required for the promotion of Hindi language in the country.
Winners of the various events were awarded certificates and cash prizes.
