The two MLAs belonging to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), AL Hek and Sanbor Shullai, released a joint statement today along with national council member Bashailang Khongwir to condemn comments made by the Tura City District president and other members of the party against the saffron outfit’s vice-president, Chuba Ao.
Yesterday, a release by the Tura unit attacked the Chief Executive Member of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council for appointing one Akki A Sangma as his chief advisor, claiming that the latter was unqualified and was not a BJP member, as had been claimed.
The Tura unit also claimed that Akki was appointed at the direction of Ao, who is also the party official in charge of Meghalaya, to get money out of the central government.
“All the persons involved in this derogatory act should be expelled immediately as the allegations are a figment of their wild imagination. This is a classic case of anti-party activity and warrants immediate disciplinary action of the strictest nature,” Hek, Shullai and Khongwir said.
