Cabinet minister Alexander L. Hek today denied reports that former Mawsynram MLA Himalaya M. Shangpliang is planning to join the NPP.
Hek who is also a senior BJP leader said that he met Shangpliang yesterday evening and there was no such discussion about his joining another party.
On the status of the show cause notice that was going to be issued to Shangpliang, Hek said that the party will look into the matter.
Moreover, Hek said that as far as the Lok Sabha elections from Shillong and Tura seats are concerned, the party is yet to decide on the candidates. He also said that the final decision will be taken by the central party leadership.
He however said that since BJP is a national party, it is expected that it would contest all both the Lok Sabha seats from the State.
On allegations that the Narendra Modi government was doing politics to garner votes by cutting the cost of cooking gas by Rs 200 per cylinder, Hek said that accusations will always be there from the opposition.
“Even if you do good, the opposition will be there to oppose. When we’re doing good for the people, why should they oppose,” he asked.
