Meghalaya will witness very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across the State from July 1 to 4.
Informing this today, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and neighbourhood at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists and a trough runs from west Assam to north Odisha between 3.1 and 3.6 km above mean sea level.
“Under its influence, moderate rainfall at most places accompanied with thunderstorms, lightning & isolated Very Heavy rainfall to Extremely Heavy rainfall is likely to occur during June 30 to July 4 over Meghalaya,” the IMD said.
Meanwhile, the State today experienced incessant rains. The highest rainfall was recorded at Mawsynram (330.8 mm) followed by Mawkyrwat (228 mm), RKM Sohra (202.4 mm), Sohra (186.2 mm) and Mawphlang (105.3 mm).
