Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh inspected the Diengpasoh and Mawryngkneng primary health centres today and stressed on the need of awareness on the dangers of home births.
“I hope the residents have confidence in the health center. I have consulted with the local MLA of Mawryngkneng and dorbar Shnong and we hope we come together to spread the need to be aware of this aspect,” she said at Diengpasoh.
She also reviewed the renovation and expansion of the health centre.
Lyngdoh said the Mawryngkneng PHC new building will be made functional soon and it will be upgraded to a first referral unit equipped with doctors like surgeons, pediatricians, general medicine, a proper operation theatre and other requirements.
She hoped after the publication of vacancies doctors would come forward to serve in the PHC and encouraged the health centres with management fund to appoint essential staff required.
On the sub-center at Sohryngkham, Lyngdoh said she has visited the site where it has been proposed to construct the new PHC. She, however, said that funds are required, including sanction and approval.
She called on Mawryngkneng MLA, Heavingstone Kharpran to work together to see all the requirements at the health centers are met.
