The Meghalaya High Court will take up tomorrow the plea by Manaksia Aluminium Company Limited challenging the State government’s decision to allow only local entrepreneurs having their manufacturer industries in the State to supply roofing sheets to Below Poverty Line (BPL) residents of the State.
The State government through a Notice Inviting Quotation (NIQ) dated September 10,.2024, has called for bids for supply of aluminium roofing sheets. The tender is of two-bid system – technical bid and financial bid. The estimated tender value is Rs. 69.65 crore.
On September 27, Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew ordered for interim suspension of the tendering process “as considerable public interest is involved and in order to examine the process as to its transparency”.
