Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong fully understands the concerns of residents of the Mawbah who are opposed to the proposed resettlement of Harijan Colony residents to the neighbourhood.
The Dorbar Shnong of Mawbah and local MLA Mohendro Rapsang earlier this week met with Tynsong, who is also the chairperson of the High Level Committee looking into the resettlement, to oppose any plan to move the residents from Them Ïewmawlong to the area around the TB Hospital in Mawbah.
They argue that Mawbah is already too crowded to be able to absorb another 342 families.
Tynsong reiterated today that the idea is just one proposal and the Urban Affairs Department may suggest others.
“I’ve asked them (the Dorbar Shnong of Mawbah) to be patient since nothing is final until and unless the blueprint is ready,” Tynsong said.
The Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) is also unhappy at the idea of its members moving to Mawbah. It had previously requested plots in the European Ward.
“Like I said, let the department first bring the blueprint and following that a meeting will still be held with the HPC. We are transparent and I’m sure a solution will come out,” the Deputy CM said.
