Police today arrested Hynñiewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) president of West Khasi Hills, Arphul Kharbani for allegedly assaulting the manager of the Shree Shakambari Ferro Alloy Pvt Ltd.
The manager, Mahesh Bhimsaria was allegedly assaulted by Kharbani at Rwiang where the company was located.
“The accused person after committing the crime tried to flee but owing to the prompt action of the police officials the accused person was detained and a case has been registered in Nongstoiñ Police Station,” police said.
Meanwhile, sources said that the incident happened at around 11 am today when Kharbani went to the factor to seek release of his pending bills. While the manager had informed him that the same was deposited to his account, Kharbani said he received nothing in his account.
A heated argument broke out in which Kharbani started assaulting the manager and damage his personal belongings, sources added.
