The Hynñiewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM), Jaiñtia zone has demanded constitution of an independent probe into the goings on in the MeECL.
Expressing concerned that the corporation is weighed down by debts the HANM said that this has affected the people of the State and an independent inquiry would clear all doubts.
“An independent inquiry is a must because Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and leader of opposition Mukul Sangma are busy engaging in blame games,” HANM zone president Shaniahlang Suchen said, adding, this has brought in confusion amongst the public, who are forced to live with frequent power cuts.
Suchen also said, “Perhaps the financial mess existed from the time of Mukul Sangma.” He said a report of the inquiry should also be made public.
Further, the HANM also said that while the public are facing difficulties due to power cut, cement companies and other factories are treated well by the Power Department.
