Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today inaugurated the production-cum-training centre of NELA Handloom and Silk Production Unit at Mawkasaing, Umroh, in the presence of Mawrynkyneng MLA Pynaid Singh Syiem, Commissioner of Textiles FR Kharkongor, Director of Sericulture and Weaving CB Sangma.
Speaking to the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the government has always been supportive of young entrepreneurs pursuing their dreams in spite of the challenges they face in their journey of entrepreneurship.
He added that in the next 10 years around five lakh youth will have to be provided with jobs and beyond the government sector it will be entrepreneurship that will provide jobs to the youth.
Sangma also announced financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to NELA to upscale production and training.
James E Dkhar, the proprietor, was presented with the ‘Entrepreneur of the Month’ Award in January 2019 by the state government.
