Governor Phagu Chauhan has expressed concern over the increasing cardiac deaths in the country especially the North East and has urged cardiologists to find innovative ways to prevent and treat cardiovascular diseases.
Addressing the 21st CARDIOCON, an annual conference of the Cardiological Society of India (CSNI), North East Chapter held at Marriot Hotel here yesterday, the Governor cited changing lifestyle as the main cause of diseases from children to the elderly.
He said Meghalaya is making significant progress in improving healthcare infrastructure and is committed to support the medical community’s efforts in the field of cardiology by making necessary investments in cutting-edge treatment facilities.
The Governor said that such conference is a significant step towards raising awareness about heart disease and encouraging collaboration among experts in the field. He urged the experts present at the conference to have productive discussions, foster new partnerships so that the ideas, solutions, and knowledge shared at the conference would benefit not only the state of Meghalaya but humanity.
The three-day conference is being organised by the CSNI in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS which aims to provide a platform for cardiologists from different parts of the country to enhance knowledge, review innovative techniques, learn the best guidelines from stalwarts in the field, and communicate, collaborate and form associations.
