The All Jaiñtia Mid-Day Meal Workers Union today took up their grievances before Governor Satya Pal Malik and sought his intervention in enhancement of honorarium and clearance of their long pending dues.
The union has been demanding an honorarium of Rs 1000 per month, which has not been paid for five months. The honorarium was not paid for the period from July to November 2021 and February 2022.
Vice president of the union, Biola Iakai said the Governor assured to look into the matter and discuss it with the Chief Minister.
President of the union, Phiyooris Syngkon said the workers have been demanding an increase of the honorarium from Rs1000 to 5000 per month and have written many times to the government since 2019.
Syngkon also questioned the government’s intention in releasing only four months of the pending honorarium for 2021. She said the payment was supposed to be through the bank account but till date they are drawing it in cash.
